I will overwhelm 'credible fighter' Jake Paul - Anthony Joshua

Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul face-off

Anthony Joshua will face the American YouTuber in an eight-round match which will be broadcast in real-time on Netflix.

British boxer Joshua said he will "dominate completely" the American and "defeat" the American as the combatants met personally to build hype for the upcoming bout.

Former two-time world title holder Joshua battles YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul - in what is, on paper, a huge uneven pairing - at Miami arena on 19 December.

Boxer's Attitude

"I plan to break his face and damage his physique. I'm here to prove I'm the better fighter," the British boxer, 35 years old, said.

"I plan to overwhelm him. That's the boxer's mindset.

"I intend to really want to cause him pain. That's my goal."

Civil Interaction

In spite of those words, a composed Joshua and social media star Paul - typically recognized for his theatrics - exchanged pleasantries and maintained decorum with each other.

Paul instead targeted former Joshua's rival Francis Ngannou and called him "ridiculous" after Ngannou turned down a match opportunity.

Taking Aim at Tyson Fury

Joshua, in the meantime, criticized British opponent Tyson Fury - and rejected a £1m bet 'Tyson Fury' says he will place on a victory for Paul.

"Jake Paul outshines Fury - he showed up," the boxer said.

"I acknowledge that."

Legitimate Opponent

Despite stating he plans to damage his opponent, Anthony Joshua chose not to talk badly about his rival's fighting skills.

"Jake is a serious fighter," he remarked.

Paul's History

Jake Paul - who initially became famous on the Disney Channel - has primarily fought MMA fighters or declining opponents since turning professional.

He lost to British fighter Tommy Fury in 2023.

Commercial Success

However, the relative newcomer continues to be one of boxing's greatest commercial attractions, regularly earning substantial paydays.

Prediction and Confidence

The 28 year old predicted a knockout win in rounds four or five and claimed he would prevent the highly-expected match between Joshua and Fury, which is reportedly in the works for two years from now.

"The next fight will be me versus Tyson Fury in the coming year," Jake Paul declared.

Physical Difference

As Joshua and Paul engaged in the traditional face-off, with their physical disparity clearly visible, it highlighted just how unlikely this whole event is - and how amazing it is that the fight is truly happening.
